Making the Invisible Visible a Woman Veterans project: is a Portrait Study that was offered to me by Vet To Vet, Bridges, and Art Westchester. The idea was to give recognition to women veterans and as a veteran myself  I jumped at the opportunity.

Who wouldn’t want to work with some badass women!!!

I was able to hear stories from different servicewomen who served through different periods in the United States Military. There were stories of trauma, love, remorse, gratitude, and appreciation.

The most difficult part was trying to craft each photograph around their individual experiences, but with the use of Lights and shadows,  the emotions from the veterans started to pour through the camera. Some photographs are dramatic while others were joyful, some show appreciation while others showed trauma, pain, and regret.

This project tested me as a father, a veteran, and a photographer. I’m grateful for the experience to work with my fellow sisters in arms and helping others see the Powerful women in front of the camera.
